What is Clan Guthrie? And how can I join?

Clan Guthrie -- USA, Inc., is a not-for-profit organization of over 400 Guthrie families who have joined together to promote and preserve their common heritage. Services and activities of our Clan are listed below.

Dues & Registration (Current Members or, if you have already submitted an Online Membership Form, click here for online payment of renewal dues)

There are 4 different payment options:

$20 - Annual E-Membership
$25 - Annual Full-Membership
$250 - Lifetime E-Membership
$300 - Lifetime Full-Membership

Full-Memberships will have our newsletter mailed to them and they can also view and/or download the newsletter digitally on our website. E-Memberships will not receive the newsletter by mail, but they will be able to view and/or download a digital copy from our website.

International memberships are welcome! You may register with either our online membership form and a credit card, or by mail with a check. Registration & membership details and listed are below.

Optional Donation to Clan Guthrie USA

Donations to Clan Guthrie are always welcome and are processed through Pay Pal.
*You do not have to be a PayPal Account Holder to use PayPal. PayPal will process any payment under $200 without requiring an account be set up. Payments can be applied to either your credit card or deducted from your bank's debit account. Note: When someone pays via PayPal, say from a non-US location, they pay in their local currency which is then converted to US dollars.

Genealogical Information

Each person enlisting in the Clan is requested to provide their pedigree (or as much information as they have about their ancestors) on forms we provide. This data is entered into our system which has the largest available database about Guthries. Although there is no guarantee, our friendly computer frequently makes a match and we are able to provide the new member with additional information about long lost relatives. There is no charge to members.

Quarterly Newsletter

Guthrie News keeps members posted on Guthrie Doin's with interesting articles about Guthries who have made good, Guthrie history, Scottish history, Highland Games in which the Clan participates, etc. And there is always more information to keep you up-to-date on developments in genealogy.

Guthrie Merchandise

As you know, there aren't a lot of Guthries (about 13,000 households have the Guthrie surname in the USA). This makes it difficult to obtain items of particular interest to Guthries -- like your very own tartan, clan badges, coat-of-arms, golf shirt, etc. The Clan operates a Catalog Sales Department which provides just such merchandise. With the mass purchasing power of so many members, we're able to obtain items at much lower costs or items which would be impossible to get on an individual basis. And, as a member, you get a 10% discount on all purchases!

Highland Games

Clan Guthrie sponsors a tent in over a score of Highland Games across the nation. This provides you a ringside seat to watch all the excitement and enjoy the company of other Guthries.

Perhaps the best reward is the association with other Guthries having interests similar to yours. It is amazing what can be accomplished when we pull together!

Guthrie Travel

Guthrie-USA has sponsored several Clan Reunion tours of Scotland to visit historic Guthrie sites and meet with Guthries and Friends of Guthrie who still live where our ancestry began. Our next Reunion trip is scheduled for 2010. If you can't make that, but would like to visit at another time, a special arrangement has been made with GuthrieStyle Tours for group tours which specialize in Guthrie points of interest.
