2009 "Great Railway Journey Through Scotland" Tour

   Friday thru Friday, July 18-25 OR Sept. 19-26  (8 day tour)

This eight day tour incorporates both motorcoach and train travel through the Western Highlands. Included are three thrilling railway journeys through beautiful unspoiled scenery, much of which is not accessible by road.The Aviemore Line takes you on an exhilarating ride from Aviemore in the Grampion Mountains, along the River Speye;through the charming village of Atholl and Pitlochry into Perth. The West Highland Line operates between the busy fishing village of Mallaig and Fort William through spectacular scenery (recently featured as Harry Potter's Hogwarts Rail Express), and the Oban Line travels from the coast at Oban and through mighty mountains and wild countryside back into Fort Willialm. You will also enjoy daily tours by motorcoach, also enjoying seeing dramatic Glencoeand mysterious Loch Ness. Your hotel will be based in the bustling and popular holiday seaside resort town of Fort William.

Peace and quiet, serenity, striking scenery and old-fashioned hospitality all await you on this tour which is based in Newtonmore situated in the Highlands. Daily you will be taking short cruises around some of the finest sea and wildlife locations in the UK where you can see dolphins, seals, sea otter, and maybe even spot a monster. Highlights include cruising down the Caledonian Canal into Loch Ness, with a stop at Urquhart Castle. From Fort William you will cruise along beautiful Loch Linnhe. And from Inverness you will cruise on the Moray Firth and maybe enjoy porpoises playing in the boat's wake. You will also explore the Highland region of the Cairngorm Mts near Aviemore, a lovely winter ski resort, and visit a Highland Estate. All along the way you will experience glorious scenery and learn about the country from where Guthries herald.

2009 "Fort William & Road to the Isles" Tour

    Choose: July 19-24; August 30- Sept 4; or Oct 12-15 (5day)

The historic town of Fort William, situated on the banks of Loch Linnhe and at the foot of Great Britain's tallest mountain, is a perfect base from which to discover this scenically dramatic region of the Highlands. During your week you will visit the Inverness and Loch Ness; the mystical Glen Coe; the busy fishing resort town of Oban; the Glenfinnan Monument and the nearby great railway viaduct of Harry Potter fame. And a scenic drive over the bridge to the Isle of Skye with it's rugged terrain. These locations will take your breath away as you explore for Guthrie.


Tour Discount:

A $20.00 per person discount off the tour price is offered to all current Clan Guthrie USA members. Tours are open to the public as well, and everyone is welcome. But by becoming a member of Clan Guthrie USA for the annual membership fee of $20.00, you are eligible for the $20.00 tour discount per person. That's essentially getting your membership for free!!
